When life scales faster than your systems do.
Work is busy. Family is moving and the infrastructure that used to work fine doesn’t quite fit anymore.
I’m writing because I have a real question and I think some of you are already living the answer. If something resonates, drop your organization workflow system or favorite apps in the comments. I’m genuinely asking.
I’ve written before about keeping my family close when I travel for work, bringing them along when I can, building the business in a way that doesn’t cost me the things that matter most.
When you’re moving that much for jobs and for family, the systems that held everything together start showing their limits. My organization is not a mess, but is slightly disorganized feeling like my old way of managing life is overdue for an upgrade.
Lastly, I do want to mention how grateful to God I am to make these memories with my wife and my dad. These are moments that you never forget.
Does A Physical Calendar Work?
My wife put it plainly… she told me I need to physically see things. That I’m the kind of person who needs both a physical calendar and a digital one running together. She’s probably right. I’ve resisted it because I don’t love clutter, and digital feels cleaner. But clean doesn’t always mean effective. If the system keeps me too hands-off, things slip.
After Hours isn’t just something I write for you, but it’s something I’m building alongside you. That means sometimes I’m the one asking the question. If you’ve figured out how to keep it together when life is full, I want to hear it. The best answer might end up in the next blog post.
Drop your system in the comments; app, physical journals, lessons, organization hacks, whatever. I am not too good to listen.
Gene After Hours,
Talent creates income. Ownership creates freedom.

I use Trello to track our client projects and my internal/business to-dos. I open it weekly or every few days to review. I keep my resource links and key tasks on different “cards.” I also time track and organize my deadlines and my daily priorities on g-cal. Discord for communication w/ freelancers. Even with all this, I still utilize a work notebook for brainstorming, priority sorting, to-do lists, etc. It’s a whole system, it’s imperfect, it’s not not working?
